I'm a wife to Joe & a mom to Nathan.  We are currently living in Montana where both my husband and I work and my son is in 4th grade.  In my free time I enjoy scrapbooking/card making, knitting, quilting, organzing & reorganizing (I blame growing up in the military for my love/desire to constanlty move my house around) and being outdoors.  I have 2 blogs that show more of my personal life & my craft life.  Feel free to swing by and get to know me more!

Hi, I'm Ranae. I am a SAHM of 7 children ranging from a teenager learning to drive down to an infant learning to walk.  My family and I live in central Illinois amid the cornfields and soybeans.  My hubby, Clint, and I have been married for almost 15 years.

I enjoy scrapbooking, cooking and goin' fishin'.  That is when I can squeeze it in among the cleaning, chasing children, chauferring and plain old chaos.  I enjoy the outdoors and would rather be there than inside unless it is too cold or rainy.  At those times  I curl up with some hot chocolate, a warm blanket and good book.

I love being a mom and find being immersed in organized chaos my cup of tea.  I am not afraid to learn and think you should never stop doing so no matter your age or stage in life.  It is a good thing since there always seems to be something I need to learn from friends, leaders, my children or God.

Volunteer Writer

Marie has been sharing home organization skills for more than 20 years now.  She began teaching in 1986 at the local community education center where she developed an eight-week, sixteen-topic course including time management, food preparation, closet and cupboard organization, budgeting, teaching children to work, and shopping skills.

Her classes have proven popular both in San Jose, California and Utah County, Utah where she now lives.  She frequently teaches home organization principles at church and community gatherings.  She also does in-home consultations, i.e. she has seen a lot of dirty laundry, cluttered closets, and stacks of untidy paperwork, all of which is very exciting to her.

Marie is a presenter at B.Y.U.’s Education Week and has published a House of Order Handbook which contains chapters on many facets of home manage-ment plus numerous worksheets to make running a home easier for any home-maker.  Deseret Book has published her book:  Project Organization, Quick and Easy Ways to Organize Your Life which helps home managers fine tune their skills.  Her latest book is:  Organized For A Mission, A Guide for Parents and Missionaries.  She has also prepared additional printed “home management” materials to help homemakers, whatever their needs may be.  She has made good use of her personal library which now totals over 300 home management books as she shares valuable and workable ideas in her classes, presentations, and writing.

Marie also writes a columns for various venues and has been a radio show host on AM820.  She has appeared as a featured guest on “Studio 5”, a weekday KSL TV show.  She also shares a weekly organization newsletter from her web page, www.houseoforder.com .

She also has interests in many other areas.  She loves to scrap quilt, make pressed-flower greeting cards for friends and family, and write personal histories.

She has been happily married to Jim Ricks for 36 years and together they are the parents of five sons.  Tom is a professor at Louisiana State University, David is attending medical school at Ohio State University, Brian is a computer science doctoral candidate at Brigham Young University (and a new husband), and Tyler is attending Brigham Young University in with hopes to be an animator.  Evan, their youngest, passed away as a young child from leukemia.

Marie and her family live in Highland, Utah where she and her husband grow a vegetable and fruit garden as their summer hobby and share woodworking projects together on colder days.
