“Friday off!” I jump with whenever I hear those words. My friends smile with amusement or slight worry. ‘It’s only one day, what’s the big deal?’ “What’s the big deal?” Three day weekends, to me, are the little vacations in the year that keep you going till that big vacation that you worry about, save up for and stress over. And the craziest thing is that, you wait an entire year for it. But three day weekends are not like that. No, those 72 hours can be as stress-free and relaxing; exciting and nerve-racking; romantic and loving; productive and fulfilling as you want it to be. And, it is entirely up to you to do what you want with it. Here are a few ideas that spice up my three-day weekends, if I want …. A Weekend of Rest and Rejuvenation Kit
Thursday night: Today, or night, you go shopping for the essentials. A few books that catch your attention, a really indulging type of bath soap, a small jar of bath salts, a bottle of wine, an outrageous color of nail polish ( it’s for your toes, so really outrageous no one else will know about), and food. If you like to cook, it relaxes you, then it’s to the fresh foods aisle for you. If you don’t, head towards the frozen foods section. Don’t forget to drop by a store to borrow some movies if you can. Do all the laundry, if you can. Friday, Saturday Sunday: Sleep late, go for a long stroll, drink a lot of water with a squeeze of lemon in it (helps clean out your system). Make a crock pot meal that you can leave to just simmer while you go to the movies, or take your book and sit out in the sun, in the park, in the library. Buy yourself some flowers, maybe go to your neighbors’ and invite them for a movie marathon the next day. Have a long, long bath with the works, pamper yourself, and don’t forget the nail polish for your toes. Curl up in a nice comfy robe and plan your snacks list for the movie marathon, while watching TV or listening to music. Make a carrot and tomato juice drink with lime juice to help you think better. Popcorn, chips, make the salsa yourself, a few outrageous smoothies for all, open the windows, throw around a few pillows and enjoy yourself. Was there anything else you wanted to add to it? Get it ready for the next 3- day weekend.
A Weekend of Excitement and AdventureBook a ticket early in the week, the cheapest ticket you can find to a city, or take the Amtrak, or take a bus. The rules are basically that you should not really have everything planned out. You need to book a hotel, yes, r you can go there and find one. You need pretty things to wear but otherwise, very little clothes, and your wallet. Once you’ve booked in, the main thing is, go out have fun, make friends by simply smiling, indulge a bit and get lost!! Simply walking in a new city, waking up and not knowing where to go, what to do and how to get there can be a very liberating experience. Fly back Sunday. Come Monday morning, when everyone’s talking about their weekend, you can smile and tell them about this fantastic trip you took to San Francisco on the Amtrak and had so much fun.
A Romantic WeekendNow, if you must ask me, this is simply the most exciting, relaxing, comforting, rejuvenating, most everything type of weekend of them all. You’ve got someone you like, someone who likes you back. And what a fantastic weekend it will be with just the two of you together. Set the mood, moods are so important. Flowers, candles, great food, clothes, they all set the mood you are looking for. But that’s just for a night, or a weekend. This is a vacation. And you’ve got your sweetie all to yourself. Put in a little more, and you’re more likely to enjoy the fantastic results : that particular smile, a surprised, pleased laugh, a hug…you get the picture. Make him breakfast, stay in or go out. You don’t have to do anything. You can do whatever you want. Go to a park, a hang gliding together. Adrenaline rushes make you feel everything more intensely, more passionately. So do something different and exciting and simply have a lot and a lot of fun in each other’s company. Don’t forget presents! Hiding little presents in places you know he’ll find them is very, very romantic.
Basically folks, your weekend is going to be exactly what you want it to be. Just sit a minute and think about how you want to feel. Then, think about what you would like to do. You want to look pretty, feel comforted, you go to a salon, or do it yourself. You want adventure, go hand gliding or rent a room in a city and explore. You want fun, wear something nice and go out and get some fun. Plan it a bit, and there’s always next time…
