How Much Does Your Bottled Water Really Cost You?

Plastic BottledPeople are not only concerned with the high cost of bottled water to our wallets and the environment, but also the low quality. Here is what New York Times columnist Bill Marsh had to say in a recent article:  “Those eight daily glasses of water you're supposed to drink for good health? They will cost you $0.00135 -- about 49 cents a year...

Silhouette

Posters were made with a silhouette behind vellum paper and the details were printed on the vellum paper.

A separate invitation was typed up using old fashioned words requesting the pleasure of their company. It was folded over and sealed with what looked like sealing wax but it was actually a gold glue stick.

We met in the Cultural Hall where we had 3 overhead projectors set up and each sister upon her arrival was assisted in having her silhouette traced onto black paper. They then cut out their own silhouette and mounted it on a half sheet of white poster board. Each Silhouette was taken and attached to the edge of the stage.

Chairs were in a semi-circle facing the stage and as the sisters finished their silhouettes they sat down and we began the program.

A poem (that I wrote years ago for a New Beginnings) was read called The Silhouette of My Dreams. (The lights were turned down) While the poem was read one of the ladies kneeled behind a large frame with white paper and a light behind her so all we saw was her silhouette.

The Silhouette of My Dreams
by Stefni Ritcher 1996

I once had a dream of a Silhouette
Her likeness was that of a Queen
Her features soft and delicate
The Silhouette of my Dreams

I observed with interest her movements
They were tender, gentle and kind
Oh how I would love to be like her...
I spoke these words in my mind.

The Silhouette reached to smell roses
Roses are a favorite of mine
She cradled a tiny baby
My own I will have...in time.

I watched as she read from the scriptures
And then held them close to her heart
I love the scriptures also
In my life they play a great part

As I watched this graceful beauty
Nothing could have struck me more
To see what I thought was my idol
In humility kneel on the floor.

A Silhouette with genuine meaning
Although not a face seen
I wonder, oh yes I wonder
Is this Silhouette dream within me?

(We used a large box that was cut out like a frame and had white paper inserted where a picture might go.) She did the graceful actions from the poem...It was really neat.

If I remember right I believe this is when the lesson was given... (and yes I gave the lesson because we were brand new and my board members were getting ready to deliver babies.. and I wasn't burned out yet)

We opened the curtains to the stage and presented "The Song of the Heart" by Marilynn Barnes. which I found in geocities.com It is a beautiful narration about the trials for women from Eve to present time....very excellent. (the stage was decorated in 3 separate eras...Eve, Emma, and now. Ladies who played the part did awesome.

The lesson was about self esteem. During the lesson I played a clip from the video Mulan where she sings the Reflection song. ("when will my reflection show who I am inside?")

The evening was very relaxing...for the ladies ...and I felt it was very successful.
