| “Nesting” French Country Style |

I admit it. I’m a hopeless romantic which is why the French Country (also Shabby Chic) style really speaks to me. There is something about the imperfect transformed into perfection. To me its art in perfect form and the French Country styled home is so forgiving. Being one who has never fussed over perfectly straight lines or furniture with “character” { imperfections/scratches/dings/bumps } so it seems only natural for me to gravitate to this look. Decorating with the French Country theme is also inexpensive because redoing furniture is not only suggested it is embraced with both arms. Something outmoded and seemingly useless for one person is transformed into a thing of a beauty for the next. While the softer neutrals are the main color palette so are the rough, almost ragged looking edges or trims. I understand that this look is not pleasing to everyone’s tastes, but as a mother of eight, I feel like I can do so much to enhance my home on a dime. And while being thrifty I am enhancing my creativity. I call that, win, win, win! Just at the perfect time my husband drove by a bedside table abandoned at the curb of a house. It was doomed to the city dump until my husband rescued it for me. { That’s true love! } He brought it home and sanded it, filled in the holes for the drawer knobs and I got to paint it with my son. I put white ceramic knobs with green polka dots on the drawer. Look at this beauty—just when I needed a new bedside table! Before:

This hutch was a garage sale find for $40! The structure was sound and in good shape. It badly needed refinishing and a little love. That’s okay, it was saved for me. { smile } We took it home, sanded it, painted it and I found some gorgeous, turquoise blue glass knobs at Hobby Lobby for the hutch and two side doors. Sigh. It’s so beautiful to me and just what I wanted. It is downstairs in my craft area holding some décor and craft supplies.
