Buttermilk Rolls

Rich, soft, and absolutely delicious, these rolls are a crowd pleaser!  Top these rolls with real butter when they are fresh from the oven.  Did I mention this was an easy recipe?  Be a diva in your kitchen today and enjoy the compliments from the family.

Ingredients

•    1 pkg. active yeast
•    1 cup warm buttermilk
•    3 T shortening, melted
•    1 tsp. brown sugar, packed
•    ¼ tsp. baking soda
•    2 ¼ cups flour
•    1 tsp. baking powder
•    1 ¼ tsp. salt

Directions:

Dissolve yeast in buttermilk; blend in shortening, brown sugar and baking soda.  Combine wheat flour, baking powder and salt; add to buttermilk mixture.  Stir one minute, cover and let rise until double in bulk.  Punch down and let rise again until double.  Knead on a lightly floured board for 10 minutes.  Roll into one-inch balls and place 3 balls in each cup of buttered muffin tins; cover with a damp cloth.  Let dough rise again until desired height.  Bake at 425 Degrees for 15-20 minutes, or until golden.
